WEIRD MATTER (2018), MA Ceramics and Glass Degree Show at Royal College of Art. My display consisted of a collection of ceramic and glass objects based on the material possibilities of metals in the firing process.
This project brings together my experimentation with the materials of the ceramic and glass making processes. I have concentrated on researching the properties of cobalt, manganese and copper oxides with the aim to expressed their characteristics through various stages of growth and decay, in applied structures and chaotic formations.
My dissertation research drew on the philosophies of the Alchemists, as developing their own personal psychology and understanding of the universe through the technical mastery of physical materials.
I have used the transformations occurring during the firing process as inspiration to explore the relation between human experience and physical processes of the substance of the world around us.
